Threats
Everyone has a right to enjoy the Pryor Mountains, but no one has the right to abuse them. Former forest Service Chief Dale Bosworth called unmanaged motorized recreation one of the greatest threats to our national forests. Unfortunately, this threat is very real in the Pryors. Unmanaged motorized recreation scars this fragile land, damages waterways and wildlife habitat and shatters the peace and quiet cherished by other visitors.
The Pryors are big enough for everyone, but if "anything goes" soon there will be nothing left. Our plan calls for a reasonable balance and responsible use. There is room for motorized recreation in the Pryors but we also need places for wildlife, for solitude and peace and quiet. We cannot stand by and allow an unthinking few trash out a place that belongs to all of us.
